Baby K's Story
Foster parents Brian and Rachael describe how a donation to Hope Cottage was able to directly impact their foster son’s life.
Right away, we knew Baby K was special! From the get-go, he was all smiles and giggles as he seamlessly settled into life with our family, even in the midst of a global pandemic. Within his first few weeks of placement, we began to observe many medical needs and physicians continue to see Baby K for multiple conditions. While most medical treatments are covered under insurance that all children in foster care receive from the state, sometimes there are gaps when it comes to equipment. In Baby K’s case, he was prescribed a cranial-remolding orthosis for helmet therapy. This helmet was very important and necessary so that Baby K’s glasses would fit properly in the future! Unfortunately, helmets are very expensive and are not covered by insurance. A generous Hope Cottage donor stepped up to the plate and graciously covered the cost of Baby K’s cranial-remolding orthosis. Thanks to that donor, and generous supporters like you, Baby K received the necessary medical equipment and care. He is now thriving, growing, and able to wear glasses properly! We are so grateful to Hope Cottage and their supporters, for their unwavering commitment to serving children in foster care, children like our foster son, Baby K!- Brian & Rachael, foster parents
