  • JOB DESCRIPTION

    This position provides services to pregnant or parenting individuals with the intent of reducing the incidence of unplanned pregnancy and provides parenting families with life skills training and positive parenting education.   Primary responsibilities include presenting approved curricula and providing individual and family case management to assigned clients. This position maintains professional relationships with assigned community agencies and promotes Hope Cottage services.

     

    Position Responsibilities:

     · Maintains positive working relationships with assigned community organizations and provides information about all Hope Cottage services relevant to shared clients

    · Provides information and referrals to pregnant and parenting clients in community organizations to help them with resources to improve parenting skills

    · Provides direct services to assigned clients, including basic assistance

    · Performs client needs assessments and creates viable service plans

    · Identifies clients needing counseling and makes referrals to appropriate Hope Cottage staff

    · Conducts group parenting classes using approved curricula in assigned venues

    · Manages inventory of client assistance, such as diaper and personal care items, to ensure materials are available to distribute as directed

    · Provides information and referrals to pregnant and parenting clients within the scope of Hope Cottage policies and procedures.

    · Delivers and bills for any applicable service provided to eligible clients

    · Maintains program client files to ensure compliance with applicable contract requirements, and Hope Cottage Policy and Procedures.

    · Uses effective time-management skills to ensure adherence to assigned presentation schedules.

    · Completes case notes and documents services within timeframe agreed upon with supervisor, including updating Case Book and Briteworks.

      TEAM

     · Forms strong working relationships within team and treats each other with respect

    · Accepts other duties to support the program and the agency as assigned.        

    · Ensures compliance with all organization policies, guidelines, and procedures

    · Maintains a neat and clean appearance, always.

    · Brings problems to the attention of the supervisor; is willing to ask for help.

    · Maintains confidentiality of client information 100% of the time.

    · Consistently follows Hope Cottage code of honor.

    Required skills and qualifications:

    Bilingual required, bicultural preferred. Driver's License and Insurance required

    Educational Requirements:             

    High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

     Required Experience:

    At least one year’s experience in non-profit or community agency providing client support.

     Other Qualifications:

     · Confidence in presenting to an audience of 15 or more people

    · Must read, write and speak both English and Spanish fluently, bi-cultural preferred

    · Works independently to accomplish duties

    · Possesses ability to keep subject matter interesting to target audience

    · Dresses professionally and appropriately when representing the agency in the community or with peer groups.

    · Demonstrates proficiency in using technology including, but not limited to, Microsoft applications and presentation software and equipment

  • Counseling Interns adapt and practice counseling skills and techniques by conducting group and individual sessions with clients in the following programs:

    • Youth education and parenting

    • Foster care services

    • Post adoption

    • Infant adoption

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in counseling clients in a variety of settings and situations, a willingness to grow and learn through new challenges, and an ability to work well independently.

  • BSW and MSW Students Interns adapt and practice social work skills and techniques by working with case managers and program coordinators in one of these programs:

    • Youth education and parenting

    • Foster care services

    • Infant adoption

    Depending on the program, interns will assist with service planning, assessment tools, resource assistance, data entry, case management, outreach and educational activities and more. The ideal candidate will have an interest in working with children and families, a willingness to grow and learn through new challenges, and an ability to work well independently.
