Equipping you to support North Texas families

As part of our commitment to nurturing strong families, Hope Cottage provides free and flexible professional development workshops for groups and individuals across North Texas. Medical staff, teachers and social workers tap into our 100+ years of institutional knowledge to obtain insight on topics related to adoption and trauma-informed approaches.

All Hope Cottage professional education workshops are:

  • Provided free of charge to qualified organizations in Dallas/Fort Worth

  • Available in-person or virtually

  • Presented by experts from Hope Cottage staff

Understanding Infant Adoption

This workshop offers medical staff, teachers and social service providers a comprehensive look into the infant adoption process, adoption history and non-coercive counseling techniques to best support birth parents considering an adoption plan.

Trauma-Sensitive Teaching

This TEA-accredited workshop was designed to help teachers understand the neurological changes that occur when children experience trauma, enabling teachers to build stronger relationships with their students.

Creating Caring Communities

This 2-hour presentation gives those who work with marginalized youth hands-on tools to create safe spaces. Topics include minority stress theory, implicit bias, microaggressions, restorative justice, and more.

Licensed Kinship Foster Care

Kinship foster care enables relatives or those close to the family to provide a home for a child who is unable to live with their parents due to abuse or neglect. A child in kinship care can maintain their connections to community schools and friends. This sense of belonging and security helps reduce trauma and acting out. The decision to become a kinship caregiver is often sudden. Family helps family, but this can cause stress, legal challenges, and financial strain. Licensed kinship foster parents qualify for a monthly stipend to help cover costs related to the child's care. Every foster child in a licensed kinship home is eligible for benefits through college, including free tuition. Bring our workshop to your church or community group so we can raise awareness about the benefits of licensed kinship placement.
